Oktoberfest Takes Home the Bronze!

Our beer, Oktoberfest, was awarded a bronze medal at the 2023 Great American Beer Festival (GABF) competition, hosted and presented by the Brewers Association®.

We were recognized in the Vienna-Style Lager category for Oktoberfest. For those of you who haven’t tried our Oktoberfest yet, our amber-style lager is smooth and clean due to a cool fifty-degree fermentation, mellowing as it lagers. Well-balanced with a hint of hops presence, Oktoberfest is focused on the grain bill of Vienna, Munich, Caramunich, Pilsen, and Melanoidin malts.

“This bronze award for our Oktoberfest beer is a great honor,” says our Co-Founder Bob Krill. “Considering the enormous amount of competition in the craft brewing industry, this is a huge win for CMBC and NJ craft beer.”

This is our second time receiving a GABF award for one of our seasonal beers. Honey Porter, was awarded the bronze medal for Brown Porter in the 2019 Great American Beer Festival Competition.

"Wow, how exciting for our production team here at Cape strive every single day to make world-class beer and it's so nice to receive recognition May Brewing Co.!” says Brandon Greenwood, our Chief Brewing Officer & Brewmaster. “We of this endeavor at such a prestigious event as the Great American Beer Festival.”

Throughout three phases over nine days, 9,200+ entries were evaluated from 2,033 breweries from all 50 states plus Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico.

"The Great American Beer Festival competition serves as a platform for the finest brews from around the world to undergo rigorous scrutiny to earn the title of ‘the best of the best,’” remarked Chris Williams, competition director of the Great American Beer Festival.
