Embarking on a journey through our sea of craft beers is an adventure that is truly worthwhile. Within our family of IPAs lies our latest destination, the Bed of Shells. When you finally find your final destination – the Bed of Shells – it leaves you right here in beautiful, timeless Cape May.
When it came to packaging design, we wanted the can art for our newest brew, Bed of Shells, to feel timeless just like Cape May. The town is full of ageless beauty and hidden gems around every street corner. From the multi-colored Victorian buildings that have transformed into bed and breakfasts, to the mom-and-pop shops that are the backbone of our community, to historic landmarks like the Cape May Lighthouse, to the bars and restaurants that have been around since the early 1800s, our label pays homage to the quirks and quaintness that make up Cape May.
The design for Bed of Shells went through many revisions before we ultimately landed on what it is now. All of our icons on our beer cans represent the Cape May brand in different ways. For this release, we decided that having a pearl peeking out of the shell on the front of the can was the perfect image to represent the gem that Cape May is, while also tying in the beautiful shells you may find on our shores. The font we chose and colors are and ode to classic signage you will find on the Victorian homes throughout town.
Onto what’s inside the can! This brew is blended with Citra and Amarillo hops, resulting in a juicy, floral, and tropical citrus finish. Everything from the taste, to the hops, to the flavors, was crafted with your taste buds in mind. This is an 8% IPA, making it a sip-and-savor type of beer, ideal for enjoying while watching the sunset or sitting in the rocking chair on the front porch of your favorite vacation rental. It pairs well with iconic summer dishes; fresh oysters, grilled shrimp, blackened salmon, and any other seafood that you would enjoy while dining at the shore to truly embrace what vacation tastes like.
The experience your taste buds will encounter at Bed of Shells is one that is sure to be unforgettable. Bring a 4-pack to the next event you attend and allow Bed of Shells to be a part of your story. Don’t forget to tag us on Instagram at @capemaybrewco so we can see how much you’re loving it!
Bed of Shells is now available on draft in the Tasting Room and to-go in the Brewtique for $15.99. It will be available at retailers in New Jersey, Delaware and Pennsylvania in the coming weeks.
