Brewing Beachcasting IPA

“This beer is my baby,” says Lead Brewer Brad Young, as we chat with him in the Barrel Room about our newest Tasting Room exclusive, Beachcasting IPA. “This is my favorite beer that I’ve made yet.”

Beachcasting IPA holds a special place in Brad’s heart for many reasons. Not only did he and his wife celebrate their wedding day by cracking open our newest IPA and sharing it with family and friends, but we also used a picture of Brad as our inspiration for the can art itself.

[Ed note: Beachcasting IPA got the stamp of approval from Brad’s family, friends, and even the in-laws!]

“When we got the name approved, I was half-joking when I said that we should use this picture for the label. But then Casey McBride, the Marketing Manager, was like ‘wait – send me that picture’”, says Brad. “The picture was taken the day after Brea and I got engaged, so it’s really special to see it on the can.”

Brad spent hours crafting our newest brew to perfection and that’s apparent to anyone after taking the first sip. A lot more goes into the brewing process than the average person might think. What you’re drinking is a delicious, ice cold beer, but what goes on behind the scenes to make that beer is strategy, patience, and a team of talented brewers who know how to brew a damn good beer.

“Me – as a Brewer and a beer drinker – this is what I want,” says Brad, as he takes a sip of Beachcasting IPA. “I think this is the perfect beer to drink on the beach. It's going to keep you coming back for more. It's approachable, it’s bright, it’s crisp, it’s refreshing, it’s everything I want in an IPA.”

This isn’t a “one and done” type of beer: this is the kind of beer that you’ll want to sip, savor, and then have a couple more because the taste is THAT good. Make sure your cooler is stocked with Beachcasting IPA because you’re going to be coming back for a second, third, or even fourth.

[Ed note: If you’re going back for a second, third, or fourth, please do so responsibly!]

“This beer leans a little bit more West Coast style, but it has those really bright, citrus hop notes that people really love in New England style," says Brad. “And of course, that 4% ABV is the sweet spot for me.”

If you’re a lover of IPAs, then this one is a no-brainer for you. But, even if you’ve never had an IPA, we can guarantee Beachcasting IPA will get you hooked. It's perfectly balanced; it’s not too bitter, but not too sweet, and is light enough that you can have more than two.

We wanted to hear from the Brewer himself though, what his favorite part of the beer is.

[Ed note: Besides the obvious… the can!]

“I love that I threw the Juniper berries in there. You’re not drinking it and getting hit in the face with that gin flavor. It meshes super well with the hops. That little bit of bitterness and pine, it’s just so fresh. This was a fun one for me to test batch and play with and taste through. The final full batch came out better than expected.”

We can confirm that this beer lives up to the hype. Just sayin’ – you’re going to want to grab more than just one pack of it. Brad explained to us why he thinks this beer is going to be a hit amongst fans.

“It’s just approachable. It’s a beer’s beer, it’s a drinking beer. It’ll keep you coming back. You don’t get that palate fatigue where you feel like you have to change things up. This will be your beer for the day.”

There’s nothing more rewarding than watching our brewers beer come full circle. What started out as just a test-batch has grown into one of our most special beers – just in time for summer. We’re hoping that you love it just as much as we do.

We ended the interview with Brad laughing about how we both may or may not be hoarding several cases in the back of our refrigerator because we love it that much. So on that note – head on over to our Brewtique to purchase yourself some while supplies last.

Cheers to stocking our fridges and coolers with Beachcasting IPA this summer!
