Financial Controller

Are you easily excited by numbers? Do you enjoy working with numbers? Cape May Brewing Company is looking for a driven Financial Controller to join our world class Finance & Accounting Team! The Financial Controller works closely with our internal teams and external vendors, rebuilding financial disciplines, owning EKOS, building a PO process and partnering directly with the CEO/Owner on facility consolidation analysis and being a real thought partner on the business.  

As a financial controller, you will be responsible for managing the financial activities of the organization.   

 

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Lead by example in upholding the Company’s Core Values and promoting a positive and constructive working environment
  • Safeguard assets and assure accurate and timely recording of all transactions by implementing disciplines of internal audits, controls, and checks across all departments
  • Manage the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing, customer credits and collections, payroll, perpetual inventory integrity, fixed asset records, general & entity accounting, cost accounting, etc.
  • Own and administer EKOS system, including date integrity and reporting
  • Develop standard costing and perform variance analysis
  • Establish inventory controls and production analytics
  • Cash management
  • Establish, implement and manage a PO process
  • Develop, improve, and issue timely monthly financial records for CEO and Board of Directors, including a rolling 26-week cash flow (updated weekly)
  • Assure financial plans are consistent with organizational goals
  • Work closely with the CEO in the development and economic evaluation of various fringe benefit programs for staff and program components
  • Create, implement and adjust KPI reporting and dashboards to support operational support
  • Interface with outside audit firms(s), banks and lessors, casualty/liability insurance agent(s), credit card companies, and collection agencies
  • Support budget process and provide variance reporting to CEO, Board of Directors, and other Company department leaders
  • Communicate with co-workers, management, clients, and others in a courteous and professional manner
  • Assure corporate income tax compliance to assure the accurate and timely completion of all corporate income tax returns taking full advantage of all favorable tax codes
  • Constantly strive for improvement by looking for ways to make things better, safer, faster or by reducing costs
  • Represent and promote Cape May Brewery in a positive manner to guests, local residents and the general public 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

  • Accounting Department Staff 

     

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or higher degree from a four-year college or university in Accounting or Finance
  • Seven to eight years or more related years of experience and/or training
  • Proficiency with Excel, Google Sheets, and QuickBooks and GAAP financial reporting
  • Prior experience in a beverage alcohol inventory-centric industry 

 

Special Requirements: 

  • CPA license is preferred 
  • Experience with EKOS preferred 
  • Ability and experience supervising others
