Brewing Manager

The Brewing Manager oversees brewery operations, leads a team across shifts, sets goals, ensures quality and safety standards, and fosters continuous improvement.

In 2011, Cape May Brewing Co. helped put New Jersey on the map for craft beer and has offered refreshing brews as one of the largest and most acclaimed craft breweries in the region ever since. From our humble beginnings hand-delivering the first keg of Cape May IPA to a local beach bar to the hundreds of accounts offering cans and drafts of our brews throughout New Jersey, Delaware, and Pennsylvania, Cape May Brewing Co. is where the brews are.

  • Host systematic reviews of team objectives and provide consistent, constructive performance feedback in one-on-one sessions.
  • Identify and address training requirements, developing comprehensive plans to enhance team competencies.
  • Oversee the brewing and cellaring timetable, confirming the timely production of quality brews, while optimizing resource use and maintaining safety.
  • Uphold safety measures, quality controls, and regulatory standards, promptly reporting any discrepancies to relevant parties.
  • Serve as the brewing technical authority, generously imparting expertise to the brewing staff.
  • Monitor and verify brewing process data to ensure product quality, rectifying any deviations swiftly.
  • Maintain a pulse on key performance indicators (KPIs), reporting operational metrics monthly to drive informed decision-making.
  • Ensure all brewing machinery is operational and ready, facilitating uninterrupted production.
  • Engage in new product development, offering technical insights and representing the company at co-packer facilities as needed.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts, encouraging the team to innovate and enhance brewing processes.
  • Provide backup brewing support as needed, covering shifts during absences or unexpected events.

Qualifications & Attributes:

Qualifications

  • Age: 21+
  • Education: Bachelor’s in Brewing, Food Science, or related; or Brewing Certification (Siebel, ABG, IBD).
  • Experience: 5+ years of brewing manager at a brewery with 10,000+ barrels/year.
  • Knowledge: GMPs, FDA, OSHA, HACCP/Food Safety (preferred), Lean Manufacturing (e.g., Six Sigma).
  • Skills: Proficient in MRP systems (Ekos, Orchestrated Beer), Microsoft Office; excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Physical: Ability to stand, move, lift up to 160 lbs, operate heavy machinery; forklift certification (a plus).
  • Technical: Competent with computers, smartphones, and tablets.
  • Work Conditions: Open to rotating shifts, including nights/weekends; adaptable to varying temperatures, noise levels, and work environments.

Salary & Benefits:

  • Base Salary: $60,000 - $80,000
