Accounting Lead

Cape May, New Jersey

We are looking for an A-Player and Total Pro to join our high-performing Accounting Team! The Accounting Lead will handle the daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly accounting aspects related to both Cape May Brewing Company and Cape Beverage Distributing.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead by example in upholding the Company's Core Values and promoting a positive and constructive work environment.
  • Manage day to day accounting functions of all companies.
  • Manage bi-weekly payroll for all companies including workers compensation submissions, 401K submissions, and HSA submissions.
  • Manage various bank accounts and cash
    • Process wires
    • Process checks
    • Online ACH
  • Benefits reporting including monthly workers compensation submissions and biweekly 401k contributions.
  • Process invoices and work with vendors to ensure proper expenses
  • Process check runs
  • Monitor aging of accounts receivable and initiate programs to facilitate collection of invoices.
  • Manage accounts receivable process
  • Manage credit card process
  • Daily bank-to-book cash reconciliation, including researching and resolving any variances discovered in conjunction with applicable departments as required
  • Daily reconciliation of the general ledger to sales revenue reporting
  • Assist Controller with preparation of weekly cash flow
  • Assist Controller with monthly close process
    • Prepare and post adjusting entries for monthly close
    • Reconcile bank accounts
    • Update monthly schedules
    • Reconcile balance sheet accounts - inventory, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, accrued expenses, etc.
  • Process and remit monthly taxes for gallon age excise tax and sales and use tax
  • Prepare and post various journal entries for payroll, 401k, and other benefit accounts as needed
  • Assist in reconciling and posting customer credits & debits for product returns, deposit redemptions, pricing and other billing adjustments

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in accounting
  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or related field required.
  • Knowledge of accounting policies and procedures
  • Accounting software experience is required, knowledge of Quickbooks is a must and knowledge of Ekos is a plus
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office/Google with a focus on Excel/Sheets, is required
